Get creative this half term with our wonderful Kick Start Art’s portrait challenge!️ Encourage your child or young person to have fun drawing, painting or even collaging a portrait of themselves, a friend, a family member or someone famous. Entries close Sunday 16th November – send a photo or scan of their A4 artwork to kickstartart100@gmail.com with their name, year group and school. Get spooky this Halloween at The White Room Creative Space. Illustrator Amelia Whateley is running a 2-hour Spooky Character Design Illustration Workshop for 8–17-year-olds on Friday 31st October, 10am–12pm. Spooktacular Stop-Motion Fun is also on its way to The White Room Creative Space on 30th October, 10-2pm. The fabulous Yellow Mouse Studios are returning to Crediton with a Halloween-themed Stop Motion Animation Workshop for ages 7–13, where young creators can animate LEGO® and mini-figures, plus favourites like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Treasure X, Among Us and Scooby-Doo. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin this half term, make sure to stop by Thorne’s Farm Shop and Café. Their pick-your-own pumpkin patch is open Monday to Saturday, 9am–5pm, offering a fantastic family outing surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside. After choosing your pumpkin, you can warm up with a treat from the café and enjoy some delicious local produce.

For more spooky fun this half term, head to The Ship Hotel on Saturday 25th October, 2–4pm who have teamed up with Hotstuff for a very special Halloween party just for under 10s. Tickets are £10 per child and include a lively disco, fun games, a costume competition, a delicious buffet and plenty of treats to keep little monsters entertained all afternoon!
Adventuremice Live at The Bookery - fans of the popular Adventuremice series are in for a treat! Creators Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre will be at The Bookery at 11am on Saturday 1st November. They’ll be reading extracts from their latest book, Mousehole to the Centre of the Earth, and showing how to draw your favourite Adventure mice characters. Copies of the books can also be signed on the day. This FREE event requires no registration – come along and join the fun!

For a spookier treat at The Bookery why not go along to their Half-Term Halloween Craft Drop In on Wednesday 29th October, 10am–1pm for free Halloween-themed craft activities for children aged 5 and up. Make a spooky lantern while you browse the books. No need to book– just go along and get creative!
Celebrate Halloween creatively at Paint Pots of Devon in Crediton, with fun pottery painting sessions - no kiln needed. Use acrylics to make Halloween-themed keepsakes and take them home the same day. Suitable for all ages, bring family, friends or little ones. Available throughout half term - specify on arrival you would like to paint in acrylic paint.

Crediton Youth Service is running FREE creative workshops for young people at Crediton Arts Centre. Join the Drumming Workshop on Monday 27 October, 2–5pm for Year 6+ and the Clay Trinket Box Making sessions on Thursday 30th October, 2–5pm and Thursday 13th November, 3.30–5.30pm for Year 6+ girls.
