Do you care about our community and want to help it recover from the impact of Covid? If so, why not join the Crediton Heart Project team? We are the local charity which created and runs this website. But we also have ambitious plans for a new multi-use building, which have been put on hold by the pandemic. To build on our achievements and adapt our plans for a Covid world, we are looking for people with time, energy and ideas to join us, as Heart Project trustee Nancy Murgatroyd explains.
Since our formation in 2018 we have been working to improve facilities and opportunities for local people in Crediton and its surrounding villages. Our research and consultation showed a desire among local groups and individuals for both a community website and a new multi-use building, which could include a cinema and performance space, meeting rooms, workshops and a work hub.
As Crediton expands it should have the help it needs to keep its character and avoid becoming a dormitory town to Exeter. In the long term, we hope to fund and build a new facility or repurpose an existing building. We commissioned a Feasibility Study which you can read here. Of course, this will take a great deal more detailed consultation and planning. You can take a look at our Project Plan here and see what is involved.
In a Covid world there is great uncertainty, a lot to think about and some re-assessment to do. We are all moving into uncharted territory.
Perhaps there are innovative solutions which would help our communities in the short to medium term. A temporary structure to host events in a safe way, mobile touring facilities or resources to support local groups to put on events. Working with local partners is essential. Do you have ideas?
If you feel enthusiastic about our objectives and want to turn the challenge of Covid into an opportunity, please talk to us. Do you have expertise in online promotion, website management, building development or planning, fundraising, consultation and publicity? What do you think you could bring to the projects? We are looking for trustees who sit on the main trust board as well as associates who work within the main project groups which you can see in the Project Plan.
You can read more details about our work here.
