And however well you know the area, there will probably be a few surprises like delicious local food deliveries: milk from Kelland Dairies, salad boxes from Gourmet Leaves and meat from Devon Boxed Beef and The Meat Box Company. Oakcroft Farm Produce not only deliver but have a regular stall at Crediton Farmers’ Market open again in the Town Square, which is now filled with picnic tables organised by the Town Team and live music arranged by Crediton Arts Centre.

 Next stop: Shopping and Services. Lots of essential information here – Supermarkets and Food Shops like Four Seasons all of whom have remained open throughout, serving the community as have post offices, pharmacies, surgeries and many villages shops like those at Cheriton Fitzpaine, Sandford, Morchard Bishop and Kennerleigh. And don’t forget your pets, large and small. We have two local vets plus plenty of shops selling anything from a bag of dog treats to pony saddle. And once you have sorted out the basics you will discover there’s so much more: like wool shop Craft Sisters, surfboards from Circle One, and unusual gifts from Boka.

Just visiting? As restrictions are lifted you will find a big welcome for visitors. The Lamb and The New Inn both offer comfortable accommodation in delightful village settings and both have restaurants and bars too. A trip to the area will usually start at the magnificent Crediton Parish church – a Cathedral in all but name and then take a walk up the High Street which is filled with the essential like Adams Home Hardware, owned by the same family for many years to local butcher Coxes which has served local produce to locals for more than a century. It’s one of many family-run businesses which make the High Street a unique shopping experience.
