@100 Gallery and Coffee Shop

There’s always lots going on at the @100 gallery and coffee shop which is in a convenient spot at the top end of the High Street. This is a welcoming place, serving delicious homemade cakes, where anyone can feel at home. Enjoy the art on the walls, watch the world go by and relax.  

Elephant on the Green

At the same end of town, opposite St Lawrence Green, where real circus elephants once passed by, is the delightful neighbourhood venue, Elephant on the Green. Open Thursday to Sunday 10am - 3pm, this is the ideal place to linger on your own or meet other locals.  

Owner Paul Vincent says, There will always be cake and traybakes, possibly scones, and fresh rolls with ham or cheese, plus soup and toast. If you’re on your own, no worries. We have daily copies of the Guardian and Telegraph and the Observer and Sunday Telegraph on Sunday. Bring your laptop and enjoy the Elephant’s Wi-Fi.

‍Crediton Coffee Company  

This is a popular stop off in Crediton’s attractive town square. The clue is in the name! Manager Hetty says, We welcome all, whether you are coming with friends, family, your well behaved four legged pals or on your own to catch up on the book you have been reading or to get some work done. We offer our own freshly roasted speciality coffees as well as lots of locally sourced sweet treats, with alternative milks and a good selection of gluten free and vegan cakes.

‍Ashtons Coffee Lounge 

Also in the town square, Ashtons has been hosting locals and visitors for more than 10 years in its uniquely styled and friendly café. The inside space is welcoming and cosy, very inviting for someone on their own. If the weather is kind, it’s also great to sit outside in the square and enjoy the atmosphere.

‍Moto Velo 

For a slightly different vibe, why not pop in for a coffee at Moto Velo. You don’t have to be mad about motorbikes but you don’t often get the opportunity to sit quietly and take in all that chrome and polished power at close hand.  In good weather, there is seating outside where you get a full view of Crediton’s beautiful and historic Parish Church. 

Moto Velo is a family run business, born from a love of all things 2-wheels and Devon!  Besides its coffee shop, using locally sourced produce, it offers a workshop customising and servicing classic bikes, a shop selling bikes and bike gear and B&B in its six ensuite rooms.

‍Crediton Station Tea Rooms

Our historic station is a blast from the past as well as a great transport asset today. Serving hot drinks, light lunches and yummy cakes, the tea rooms are on the spot for anyone coming into town by train, waiting to leave us (why would you!) or just in the area. You can even pick up a book for your journey from their community bookshelf.  

The tea rooms are run by the Turning Tides Project CIC, a brilliant local organisation supporting learning disabled adults.

‍Exe Valley Farm Shop

If you would like to venture a little further afield, the Exe Valley Farm Shop, near Thorverton, has its own café with seating inside and out in a relaxing environment. It is a welcoming place to visit, and the shop is a great source of fresh local, traditional and natural products. 

The Exe Valley farm is run by the third generation of a farming family and their Ruby Red Devon herd graze the fertile surrounding countryside of the Exe Valley. This is not far from the National Trust’s Killerton House and gardens.

‍Drakes Farm Café 

Heading west towards Dartmoor, try Drakes Farm Café at Crockenwell. With a large indoor space and plenty of outdoor seating, this is a relaxed, fun and unique place for all ages to visit. It is set on a farm within the Dartmoor National Park and hosts a variety of animals to fascinate children and grown ups alike. Their café serves delicious breakfasts, lunches, scones, tasty homemade cakes, locally produced ice cream and freshly ground coffee. 

‍Oinkers Farm Shop is just across the yard selling meat products including burgers and sausages made onsite and a wide range of other local goods from over 20 suppliers.
