Coco’s, the new cafe and cake shop on Crediton High Street, had only been open for five months when Covid-19 forced it to close. Luckily demand for owner Chloe Burston-Thomas’ delicious cakes has continued and she has been able to keep baking. Coco’s is now open again, for takeaways only, and Chloe is optimistic about the future.
Cake, Coffee and Covid. These are the 3 C’s that seem to run my life at the moment! As for all of us, these last few months have been very different for me. March, April and May all just seemed to blur into one mass of endless days. My family, friends and I have all been very lucky not to have been affected by ‘the thing that shall not be named’ within our bodies. But our lives and businesses have suffered as a result.
Lockdown for Coco’s came when I had been open for just 5 months so naturally, I was very worried whether my young business would survive. Thankfully I needn’t have worried, as I have been inundated with support, love and kindness from customers new and old. I am so pleased to be back and baking for all the lovely people that walk through my shop door.
Although things aren’t back to normal, Coco’s hasn’t changed too much. The only thing that’s different, as with every other Food & Drink business, is that seating still isn’t allowed. But cakes to takeaway or order, and brownies by post, are available like always.
I would just like to thank everyone who has supported Coco’s throughout all the chaos, with big thanks to my main suppliers of fab eggs and coffee, Black Dog Eggs and Exe Coffee Roasters Both these companies offer great products which help make my business run!
Also, a massive thanks to my family and friends who all do their very best to support me in whatever way they can.
That’s enough waffle from me. I’ll get back to the kitchen and hopefully see you all soon.
