When not offering its own cafe service (Thursday - Sunday) or other in-house events it may be hired exclusively for private social or business events or by not-for-profit organisations, with or without staff support, and groups (up to 16 persons) may reserve part of the premises during normal opening hours for informal meetings on a per-head basis.

The premises is a versatile ground-floor space of around 900 sq ft with tables and seating for 36+ persons in numerous alignments. It has a catering kitchen (with tableware for 24 covers), two toilets (incl. accessible and baby-changing), a dimmable lighting system, wi-fi, audio facilities, ceiling mounted projector & screen, 20 stacking chairs, Welmar upright piano, and outside courtyard garden.

It is licensed for the sale of wine, beers and cider with meals or alongside events. It also has licences for recorded music and 'non-theatrical' film showings. Live music may be performed but (out of respect for our neighbours) not including instruments that require amplification.

Because of limited parking facilities locally, the Elephant's focus is on serving the local residential population on the western side of Crediton, but welcomes visitors from further afield for refreshments, light lunches and evening events.

To privilege local residents and regular users, the Elephant operates a Friends scheme: in return for a monthly subscription patrons are entitled to substantial discounts on food, events admission and room hire, and may enjoy complimentary refreshments and daily newspapers.
